Available for SmartRING and SmartDISC Stranders, Carmanah’s Disposable Knife System eliminates traditional knife grinding room operations.  Utilizing the innovative CARMANAH Disposable Knife System, eliminates the need for conventional counter-knives as the knife has a ‘built-in’ counter edge. 

Existing installations of SmartDISC Stranders, Block Stranders and SmartRING Stranders can easily be converted to accept this new system.

The CARMANAH Disposable Knife System is delivered to the mill ready for installation. As each knife is precision ground, the consistency and accuracy of the knife-edge is optimized, generally providing increased knife life and more consistent strand thickness, when compared to conventional plate knives.  After the knife has completed its cycle on the first cutting edge, it is removed and turned 180 degrees, ready for the next cycle. The knife is used on both sides and then discarded.
