Processes Veneer Waste into High-Grade Chips With Less Energy at High Production Rates
Higher productivity results from controlled feeding and compressed volume of stacked veneer. The Veneer Chipper can normally process the veneer residual produced by three high production peeler lathes.
Minimal disc end movement is accomplished by use of preloaded tapered roller bearings that support the disc. This results in a uniform and tight anvil-to-knife clearance that produces more high-grade chips.
The heavy-duty, thick plate disc, inclined 15% to the horizontal, provides unobstructed feeding. This permits the chipping of solid materials when necessary.
The heavy construction utilized in the Chipper disc, frame and powered feed works rolls ensure reliability and the means to handle abnormal surges while maintaining high chip production.
80” and 87” Veneer Chipper Features:
- Chip length can be ¾ to 1-1/8 inch
- 6 or 8 knives (10 are standard)
- Chipper disc drive
- Chipper feed belt and drive
- Chip slot end – hard faced
- Overhead chip discharge
- Disc stopping brake
- Standard flat conventional knives
Disc Stopping Brake
A brake is available. It is conservatively sized to stop the chipper disc in approximately two minutes. Not only does the brake save time for knife changing, it can be used to hold the chipper disc in position when changing knives. The brake is a caliper type, direct air operated. The brake disc is mounted at the chipper shaft.
General Description
Discharge Options
- Bottom Discharge. This is the standard discharge option and is the simplest. Chips impact the casing at the rear and drop onto the customer’s conveyor.
- Top Discharge. Also known as fan discharge, this option includes fan blades attached to the rear and rim of the disc. Normal limits on discharge distance are 30 feet (10 meters) horizontal and 30 feet (10 meters) vertical.
Chip breakage is most severe with top discharge. It can be minimized with careful design of the chip duct and the transition section from the chipper casing. We can provide that transition as an option.
Options
Belt Drive with Sheaves and Belts
- Complete Drive Packages are available as options, complete with safety guards.
- Disposable Knives - a disposable knife system can be provided. Maximum chip length setting will be as determined by the particular knife system.
- Chip Slot End Liners - replaceable end liners are available for the chip slots. The liners bolt in place from the back of the disc. They protect against wear at the outer end of the chip slots. End liners are normally used only in high abrasion or high wear environments.
- Infeed Conveyor Complete with Belt and S-drive - a complete infeed conveyor system can be provided, including 24 inch wide belt, S-drive and conveyor pan. The conveyor and drive are custom designed and built to suit the particular mill installation. The customer benefits from single package responsibility for the complete conveyor, infeed and chipper system.
